Limitations of Online Fax Technology

In today’s fast-paced business world, time is money. Businesses are always seeking new ways to get their day-to-day office tasks done efficiently, and quickly. This need is being met with new innovations in technology, enabling faster communication, video calls, online conferencing, basically anything that will help in the administration of your office. Online faxing eliminates the need for a fax machine, and for many businesses is a seemingly ideal solution – get your faxes sent without the hassle involved in a traditional fax machine.

But to what extent is online faxing technology really more convenient? Granted it will track all the faxes that you send and receive online, great for record-keeping purposes, it has also opened up the avenue for people to send spam faxes. Faxing unsolicited faxes to hundreds of recipients at once, with only the click of a button. This is a great disadvantage to online faxing, but not the only limitation.

Alongside the ability for spammers to send out hundreds of unsolicited emails, online faxing is technology, computer, and internet based. Being dependent upon these three things, some of which are not always entirely reliable, is another drawback to online faxing. Should your computer crash, and you do no have a back up of your online faxing software, you cannot send faxes off of any PC, unlike traditional fax machines that anybody can use around the world, as long as they know the phone number of the recipient.

Not all online faxing providers offer the same features as a traditional fax would, and it’s important that you take the time to do your research before you decide to fully make the switch to online faxing.
